Zurich Commercial Motor Insurance PDS Update

Effective 18 July 2025

We’ve updated our Zurich Commercial Motor Insurance PDS. There are important changes to coverage and policy language, as well as two new exclusions.

You can find the updated PDS here.  Please also see a Quick Reference Guide here.

This update will take effect for new business policies incepting from 18 July 2025 and renewals generated thereafter.

Changes at a glance

  • Electric vehicle (EV) specific amendments: the PDS has been updated to include definitions, additional covers and exclusions which are tailored to EVs for greater clarity and relevance
  • Amendment to choice of repairer clause: clearer language to improve clarity of the ‘Repairs, Repairer Choice and Parts Policy’ clause
  • New exclusions: for ‘Cyber acts’ and ‘Electronic data’
  • Policy Language: clearer policy language to improve clarity and balance for customers in line with Unfair Contract Terms legislation.

How does the new ‘Cyber acts’ exclusion impact policies?

This exclusion explains what’s covered if there’s a cyber attack. It means we won’t cover loss, liability, or damage caused by a cyber act.

But we will still cover:

  • Physical loss or damage to your insured vehicle
  • Legal liability for property damage and/or personal injury

For example, if a cyber attack stops your vehicle’s GPS or security system from working, we won’t cover that. But if your vehicle is stolen because the security system was affected by the cyber act, we will cover it.
